Philippines Performance Improvement Plan (PIP)

A Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) is a structured, 6-week plan designed to address specific areas of improvement in a regular employee's performance that did not meet your established performance expectations. This also provides the employee the support to enhance their performance by providing a clear framework which facilitates a targeted development in their performance.

When is my employee eligible for PIP Enrollment?

A regular employee have received either:

  • Two failed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Two consecutive failed evaluations as a regular employee

What Do I Need to Do?

  • Create a ticket in Freshdesk to initiate the PIP enrollment process.
  • Complete the PIP Enrollment Form and PIP Worksheet with detailed and specific information, including KPI targets, program duration, and weekly checkpoint dates. Ensure the start date is at least one week from enrollment to allow HR sufficient time for review and preparation.

What Happens Next?

  • The HR Team will review the provided documents within one week
  • Once approved, the HR Team will prepare the PIP Notice which will then be served and discussed to the employee in a scheduled call at least two days before the program starts
  • After the notice is served and discussed, you will discuss with the employee the PIP Worksheet to align expectations
  • Once the program is implemented, submit a weekly PIP evaluation via the PIP Worksheet, with all supporting documents acknowledged by the employee at the end of each week
  • After the six weeks, one of the two things can happen:
    • If the employee passed the PIP program, they will retain their employment
    • If the employee fails the PIP program, a due process for possible termination will be followed which includes a Notice to Explain (NTE), Administrative Hearing, and a Notice of Decision (NOD)
